Happy holidays

It's like [proverbial] Christmas all year long, without the crappy music. Just take some of today's headlines as a microcosm:

Bid to Undo Bush Memo on Threats to Species
By CORNELIA DEAN
President Obama ordered a review of a Bush administration
rule that exempted officials from having to consult with
wildlife experts before taking actions that might harm
endangered species.

Russian Welcomes Letter From Obama
By ELLEN BARRY
President Dmitri A. Medvedev said that Russia was open to
United States overtures on its proposed missile defense
plan.

Okay, so the economic news is not so festive, even in this region. But I have much more hope, no pun intended, for it now that we're in good hands.
