At first I cringed at "Kafkaesque" in the headline, but it's kind of fitting.
I, too, will miss Ellen Goodman. She was probably the first columnist I ever read, back in Boston, even back when I lived with my parents and read her columns in the Globe. I also agree with Kathleen Parker about drawing lines in the sand with regard to left and right, and, I hate to say it, but with regard suspicion of men who declare themselves feminists. I don't have issues with men who are feminists, but the ones who go out of their way to claim the title always, at least in my experience, bear some serious underlying misogyny.
