Friday morning roundup

Niger is at risk.

China brings its propaganda and censorship machines to Africa.

Someone wrote me to cite the Family Research Council shooting as an example of food identity in politics (see the Chick-fil-A in the backpack). I don't really see the connection; I can only see it as (1) the act of a deranged, confused man and (2) an unfortunate trend of addressing political disagreements with violence.

Rage Against the Machine is, unsurprisingly, not requiting Congressman Ryan's affections.
