The shoes market holds up. It's true: if you walk a lot, it's like your car, and you have to invest in quality.

Part II of what restaurant staff should never do. I'm really glad he included that one about knowing the menu in and out. Same with not filling the water glass non-stop, but also not letting it sit empty for too long. I also like the one about giving out the recipe when a guest really likes the dish.

I actually just invested a lot of money in a quality purse for the exact same reason as others invested in shoes.
I've also started investing in quality shoes. Madden Girl and converses were good enough pre-baby weight and mom duties, but now I've got to treat the tootsies w/ extra care, b/c I work them a lot more.
