Happy first birthday, #Higgs boson, the youngest member of our particle family. Goodness, they grow up fast ...I wish that my mom were so amenable to reason. That I could point out--as I have, in one way or another--that when you badmouth or put down other people, it only makes you look bad. It does not prop you up in their eyes. There are, apparently, people who listen to that kind of reasoning and adjust their behavior accordingly. With mom, it's best to just ignore.
