This column kind of pisses me off, but I don't know why. I'm not a foodie by her standards--I emphatically do not believe that good food has to be complicated or expensive. Nor do many other people who think about food. So I think I resent the implied association between caring about food and being an asshole about it.
Oh, yeah, and the food industry doesn't want you to know about the pesticides in your food.

that article really is terrible. it doesn't take that much longer to cook from scratch than it is to make crap from a bag. yeah, stuff from a bag is a lot easier, but it's not like taking time to cook for/with your kids is snobby or something. my kiddos love cooking and baking with me. we make a huge mess of the kitchen but they have a blast and my oldest is learning all about what foods are good for him and what isn't and even about his brothers allergies. and seriously, it's not like our food cost any more than packaged crap and if it ultimately lowers our health care costs because we're fueling our body better, then all that much better! i guess i have a hard time understanding how you wouldn't care about what you're putting in your body!
