As a somewhat shy person, I wouldn't describe myself as co-dependent on my husband, but I don't like to sit apart from him at dinner parties, simply b/c I feel awkward w/ meeting new people, and his presence helps me be more comfortable in those kinds of situations.
However, since he works weird hours I often have to attend events alone, and I've found that I can easily achieve the same level of comfort w/ 2 glasses of wine. :)
Oh, and yes, my social life suffered mightily while I was pregnant and couldn't drink.
