Tuesday Roundup (brought to you by Twitter)

Had it not been for Twitter, I'd still not have internet.

Reproductive rights are a life-or-death issue, not the niche White-Feminist issue as some (including the Gray Lady) have attempted to dismiss it.

It's important to remember that we're still not a banana republic, even though there've been signs. I take huge pride in fellow immigrants' awe in our right to mock our own government. Call (or email) Congress. It works. Resist.

The Russian government is very threatened by attempts to look honestly at the country's history.

When you favor business 'flexibility' over people's safety, you get Grenfell. And runoff.

My heart breaks for the family of North Korea's latest American victim, but it's not incorrect to acknowledge that a sense of privilege may have hurt him in a land where his privilege fell short. I don't believe the answer to privilege is leveling down; better extend the privilege.

This is some creepy stalker shit.

Why we can't have nice things.

I wish I were handy enough to make an igloo. Look at the engineering!
Engineers say the Inuit, through trial and error, devised a design based on a parabola, not a semicircle, eliminating the forces that would make a true hemisphere bulge and collapse. Snow is an excellent insulator, trapping air between the snowflakes, while white reflects light and heat, so most of the heat generated inside an igloo stays there.
