Sarawak

Kuching, like Kotor, is named for its cats. Who knew I'd get to go to two cat cities--each with its respective cat museum--in one year? The city is dotted with cat statues.

And the cat museum is like nothing I'd ever seen before.

There was a whole Friskies display, which I'll spare you.

Sarawak is not about Kuching, but Kuching is a pleasant city.

A lot of my pictures look better live, but Blogger isn't playing, so stills will have to do.

In addition to the cultural center (see intro post), we also went to the Fairy and Wind caves.

A bat! The Wind Cave was full of them.

And saw some orangutans in a rehabilitation center. A sighting was not guaranteed, as it was fruiting season and the apes didn't *need* the center's help. Which is a good thing. But a mother and child stopped by for some coconuts nonetheless. I took a gazillion live pictures, but Blogger still isn't playing, so this still will have to do.

Kuching has a pretty impressive orchid garden of its own.

After two days in Sarawak, we were off to Sabah.
