It is a given that I can't expect a moment of peace from mom. That she can't watch TV in another room without calling my name every few minutes. That she doesn't understand that nagging me to do something or answer a question when I'm in the middle of something will only prolong the doing or answering. But dad?
Mom was dilly-dallying before breakfast so I decided to do a guided meditation from a recording on my computer. I said I'd be back but I needed to do something. I didn't specifically ask not to be disturbed, but still.
Dad came in once or twice to say something to me. I nodded, indicated lack of availability.
Then, during a key moment...
Dad: Is that your voice or the recording?
A.: GODDAMMIT, DID I NOT SAY PLEASE GIVE ME A FEW MINUTES?
Does it matter whose voice it is? The point is I'm listening to something, so I'm not in a position to be interrupted by you. Yes, I know it's their house. But still. I'm not saying my reaction was the best one, but it's what happens when you're trying to focus on something and someone interrupts you. Deep breath. Now I need to meditate all over again.
